So did anyone get this besides me? My user name is Havoc2670 since some fool took Havoc. Hmm wonder if there is a way to find the server he is on so I can good hunt him.

Interesting game so far. Played through the Solo game in under 4 hours. On par with the WWII version for story but pales in comparison to COD4 story. I won’t talk about the single player game play since that doesn’t interest us much.

For the Multiplayer maps most are larger that the original COD4 maps but that is a given that in about half the maps have tanks. Depending on the server and the population size the battles are be very intense.

Some game observations
- Explosives seems to have a larger radius and more powerful, might be so you pick the Flak vest as a perk
- Dogs look neat but get to some places they should be able to and are easy to kill if you see them but only require one hit to kill you. Alot better than the circling death machine that Helos were in COD4.
-Recoil is not as realistic as COD4 more in-line with the older COD’s
- Can’t tell where the enemy Artillery is going until it hits which is kind of nice. Shock of Artillery is fairly extreme but it prevents friendlies charges and shoot as accurate on servers with FF off.
- Seems more deadly even with out HC on but need to find a HC server to play on to tell.
- Recon plane is very similar to a UAV.
- The Gas is not as bad as the Mustard Gas that we used.
- Flamethrower I haven’t used as I’m not Level 65 yet. If it is like the single player it is short range (maybe shorter than the ones we had) but deadly and same flaw of getting hit in the back is bad.
- Walking in water on certain maps is strange, it is almost like gliding.
- Somebugs with the mines. The main one I found is placing the mines in the huts over water on one of the Jap/Marine maps will trigger when you pass under the hut in water.
- Still can shot through objects but doesn’t seem to work as well, so less penetration than COD4 so far, but it might be the weapons I’m using
- Most weapons nice, can get thinks like double mags, drum instead of clip and so on. Range scopes are not available on most weapons minus rifles.
- The Jap MG SUCKS!!!. Okay the damage and rate of fire is good but the top clip screws with your sight and blows the right side of the screen when firing from the should. Not the games fault because that is how the weapon was in RL.
- There are tanks in the game and you can have a driver and a turret gunner. The Gunner has a very short life span normally. Even though the tanks look different I think the stats are the same.
- German uniforms look cool and there is not as much problem telling good guys from bad as long as you remember which side your on.

On a side note I’m level 28 or 29 and already Knife Mastery III so I have to thank Ash for training me so well.

I believe CoD5 will be console only. It’s not made by Infinity Ward. It’s WWII based, but instead of the normal Normandy, Berlin, etc, etc settings, this one is set in the Pacific Theater. I wonder if it will make it’s way to the Wii??

Basic History

Heat of Battle (HoB) first reared it’s head just before Christmas 2003, and was the very first total conversion mod for CoD, bringing with it many innovative ideas. Many of those ideas have now not just been incorporated into other mods, but also into the game itself.

Since the first release, HoB has evolved and taken on new dimensions, with added gameplay and built-in admin functionality, even being converted to work with the Call of Duty expansion pack, United Offensive.

Now we are preparing to launch HoB4:MW after a succesful alpha test just last weekend.

What we are doing is taking the Domination gametype (which is essentially the same as the original HoB) and adding to it. For now, we have made very basic changes to encourage teamplay. Instead of being able to to capture a control point on your own, you will require at least one teammate to assist you. This will NOT speed up the capturing, and it means that other teammates will have to be around to offer protection to those capturing. This will have the initial affect of slowing down the gameplay a bit, making it more tactical than before. As more players join the server, the number of players required to be in the capture zone to cap the location will increase, and an icon will appear at the zone when you enter it, telling you how many players are needed.

Unlike Domination, when all zones are captured by one team the round will end, and they will be declared the winners of that round.

Next weekend (16th/17th February), we alpha test again and if successful, will be launching a beta version.
